On Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, a hybrid event titled “Say No To Bribery: ISO 137001 Certificate Hand Over to ISS Indonesia” was held to recognise the facility services and facilities management company’s success for passing through the international standards requirements on anti-bribery.

At ISS Indonesia Head Office, Graha ISS Bintaro Support Centre, as the offline event venue, ISS Indonesia’s Country Leadership Team led by the CEO & President Director, Elisa Lumbantoruan, received the ISO 137001:2016 certificates which were handed over by the President Director of Decra Group Indonesia, Sholichin Agung Darmawan, as the independent auditor for ISS Indonesia.

“We begin the process since December 2020 and with the ISO 37001 we have now obtained, this marks a new milestone for ISS Indonesia to level up our compliance. This will bring us competitive advantages in deepening our customers’ and all stakeholders’ trusts because anti-bribery is not only about the process to implement it, but it shall become a culture in our organisation,” Elisa said.

Sholichin Agung Darmawan of Decra Group Indonesia affirmed that ISS Indonesia had gone through comprehensive audit and assessment from the top management to the grassroot that led the company’s achievement as ISO 37001:2016 certified. “During the process, we even conducted a mystery guest where we tried to bribe ISS’s employees on-site without them noticing that we were auditing, to ensure that ISS deserved to be entitled with anti-bribery certifications,” Sholichin explained.

ISO 37001:2016 for ISS Indonesia is in-line with the implementation of ISS Company Code of Conduct, where anti-bribery is one of the crucial parts of the code of conduct in ISS. It is also in-line with the Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia No.10/2016 on the Prevention and Eradication of Corruption. It is being mandated to all state-owned entities to obtain the ISO 37001 certification, as stated in the Letter No. S-17/S.MBU/02/2020 dated 17 February 2020 of the Indonesian Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises.

Denmark Ambassador to Indonesia, Lars Bo Larsen, on his virtual attendance, expressed his appreciation to ISS Indonesia for its important work done. “It is a highly-priced work, and I don’t find it easy for ISS Indonesia regarding its size of employees and complexities. Saying no to bribery is something that must be supported by the structures around individual choices, and we all have the responsibility to see whether we can support our colleagues in making the right choice and to take more sustainable route,” the Ambassador said.

Through ISO 37001:2016 certifications, ISS Indonesia aims to prevent, detect and address bribery by adopting an anti-bribery policy, appointing an officer or organisation to oversee anti-bribery compliance, provide trainings, risk assessments and due diligence on projects and business associates, implementing financial and commercial controls, and instituting reporting and investigation procedures.
