Collaboration Between ISS Indonesia and APRIL Group to Strengthen OHS Culture

As part of the National Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Month 2026, ISS Indonesia was entrusted to participate in a Safety Seminar organized by APRIL Group, one of the companies managing one of the largest pulp and paper production areas in Asia.

APRIL Group operates an integrated business process ranging from industrial forest plantation management to manufacturing operations, making workplace safety culture an essential aspect of maintaining sustainable operations.

The seminar was attended by the client’s management team and OHS practitioners, with the objective of strengthening a sustainable workplace safety culture within the operational environment. The event was opened by APRIL Group management representatives, who emphasized the importance of collaboration in building a safe, integrity-driven, and sustainability-oriented work environment.

During the session, Mirza Kurniawan, HSEQ Department Head of ISS Indonesia, delivered presentations titled Safety Leadership in Action: Creating SAFE Spaces Together and How To Be a Great Safety Officer. Through these sessions, participants were encouraged to understand the importance of leadership in building a strong safety culture, while also strengthening safety mindset and risk analysis capabilities in the workplace.

The materials presented also highlighted that the role of a safety officer goes beyond ensuring compliance with procedures. It also involves building effective communication, increasing safety awareness, and encouraging positive collaboration within the work environment.

In addition, the seminar reinforced the implementation of the “Engage With Others” pillar within SAFE behavior through collaborative approaches and effective communication among individuals and teams. This approach is expected to encourage a stronger and more consistent safety culture in daily operational activities.

Through this initiative, ISS Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting clients through educational initiatives, competency development, and the strengthening of workplace safety culture. The collaboration with APRIL Group represents a shared effort to create a safe, productive, and sustainable working environment.
