Amid evolving regulations and accelerating digitalisation, the banking industry is under increasing pressure to operate more efficiently while maintaining service quality and regulatory compliance. This environment is driving organisations to build more adaptive operations that can remain competitive and prepared for the future. Workplace solutions therefore play an important role in supporting operations by improving productivity, efficiency and compliance, while creating better experiences for both employees and customers.

In response to these needs, ISS Indonesia hosted Banking Connect 2026 under the theme “Building Future-Ready Banking Operations: Lean, Smart and Sustainable.” The forum brought together regulators, business associations and banking industry professionals to exchange perspectives on developments in employment regulations, including outsourcing management, as well as the use of technology to build more efficient, adaptive and sustainable operations.

Banking Connect 2026 featured speakers representing a range of perspectives, including Andi Awaluddin, Head of the Wage Development Team at the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower, who also serves as Head of the Employment Law Drafting Team, discussing developments in employment regulations. From the business community, Myra M. Hanartani, Chair of APINDO’s Regulatory and Institutional Relations Committee for Employment Affairs, shared perspectives on how businesses can anticipate regulatory developments. Meanwhile, Norwin Zebua, Vice President of Outsourcing Management at PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, shared his experience in managing outsourcing and operational compliance in the banking sector. More than 40 banking professionals from leading institutions across Indonesia attended the forum.

From a business perspective, Myra M. Hanartani highlighted the various challenges businesses currently face in maintaining business continuity and competitiveness amid rapid change.

“Businesses today are facing challenges including rising operating costs, evolving regulations and the need to ensure that human resources are equipped to meet industry requirements. To navigate these conditions, companies need to take five key steps: comply, prepare, streamline, be productive and adapt, to remain competitive and sustainable amid continued changes in business and technology,” said Myra M. Hanartani.

Meanwhile, Andi Awaluddin emphasised that the development of employment regulations needs to maintain a balance between worker protection and business sustainability.

Employment development is grounded in the principle of balance: protecting workers’ rights to a decent livelihood while supporting a favourable investment climate and business sustainability. Going forward, employment regulations should not only be adaptive to labour market dynamics, but also forward-looking in anticipating various changes, including developments in artificial intelligence (AI) and the gig economy,” said Andi Awaluddin.

As an Integrated Facility Management (IFM) provider, ISS Indonesia sees evolving regulations, technological developments and growing demands for efficiency as drivers for a more measurable and outcome-based transformation of workplace solutions. Particularly in the banking sector, where hybrid working has become part of the operating environment, an approach that integrates people, processes and technology is needed to support more adaptive and efficient operations. The right workplace solution can also help minimise operational risks and strengthen compliance in banking, a highly regulated industry.

In addition, high-quality workplace solutions can create meaningful service moments for employees and banking customers. Positive experiences and consistent service delivery can also contribute to stronger engagement and enhance a company’s ability to attract and retain top talent.

“The banking sector needs workplace solution transformation that integrates people, processes and technology. Through outcome-based Integrated Facility Management (IFM) services, ISS Indonesia helps banks transform their workplaces to improve operational efficiency, support regulatory compliance, and strengthen engagement with employees and customers,” said Muhammad Sofyan.

The forum also highlighted how technology can support workplace transformation in the banking sector. Digital operations and smart buildings enable banks to improve resource efficiency, optimise energy and facility management, and support faster, better decision-making based on real-time data.

Through Banking Connect 2026, ISS Indonesia aims to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders while accelerating workplace transformation across the banking sector.
